Yeah, but you are not really Starfleet until you have watched a low-tech civilization get decimated by an asteroid, acknowledged that you could have saved them with minimal effort, and then smugly patted yourself on the back about how the Prime Directive makes you the good guy for watching an avoidable catastrophe. Just like how your great-great-great-grandfather, the chief firefighter of Springfield, watched the orphanage burn down while sipping coffee sitting in the firetruck. Yeah, he could have put out that fire, but what if one of those orphans went on to become the next Hitler? Better to let them figure out for themselves how to escape.
