Tutorial: Upvoting Fellow Steemians Using Bots

Sometimes upvoting once on a post just isn't enough. Sometimes you want to vote twice for the same post on steemit.com for whatever reason. If you have more than one account that's not a problem but how does someone vote more than once for a post if that person only has one account?

For a small fee an upvote bot will upvote a post on your behalf. By sending either steem dollar(s) or Steem token(s) along with the URL of the post you can "bid" for an upvote. In this example I am using Minnow Votes but other bots on steemit.com should be similar in function to this example.

Earlier today on steemfollower.com (referral link) I saw a post by @firstamendment and upvoted it. Right now with my Steem Power my 100% upvote is worth about $0.0012. I've been having luck lately with people upvoting my posts and now that I have a little extra coming to me I can use part of that to help show support for a fellow steemian or two. For this example I will upvote the @firstamendment post again but this time use a bot.

The post itself isn't necessarily the reason why I want to give an extra upvote using a bot. I found @firstamendment on steemfollower today and based on the profile and blog posts made in the past I am sure @firstamendment is a steemian who supports free speech just as much as I do. That right there is worth at least one more upvote.

Like it states in the beginning of this tutorial post "for whatever reason" and since voting for a post is subjective there is really no bad reason for an upvote. Whatever criteria for judging works for you then go with that.

In order to upvote the post using a bot the URL of the post is needed which can copied and pasted for the transaction. Go to the desired post for upvoting and the URL can be found in the address bar of the browser.

Once the URL is copied the transaction can be sent from the account wallet. The wallet for your account can be found in the upper right hand corner of your steemit blog's main page.

Once in your account's wallet scroll down to "STEEM DOLLARS" and select the "transfer" option. (Note: You need steem Dollars already in your account to proceed after this step).

In the "Memo" space paste the URL of the blog post you want upvoted.  In the "To" sction post the receiving account for the upvote bot you want to use. The receiving account is usually the same as the name of the bot's steemit account and is usually found also in the bot's steemit profile. In this example I am transferring a bid to  @minnowvotes. In the "amount" section put the amount you are transferring. Generally for an upvote bot like this example the more you send the higher the percentage of one upvote the post will get. In this example I am transferring o.1 SBD.

The next two screens after you click on "Next" will have you confirm the transaction and use your steemit password to send the transaction to the upvote bot.

In a few moments the transfer should show up in your account wallet history. (Note: Once you start using bots lots of other bots want to get your attention).

You can also check the steemit account wallet for the bot to make sure the transaction was received.

If everything is done correctly within a few moments (some bots might take longer) the post should get an upvote.

In this example minnowvotes gave a 7.05% upvote. That might not seem like a lot but upvoting bots can have a lot of steem power. In this example the estimated pending payout went from $0.11 before the upvote to $0.29. A little can sometimes go a long way. Percentage may vary based on the bot's voting power at the time of upvote and how many other users are placing bids for upvotes within the given time period.

I just voted twice for something and I am not even a registered voter in Chicago. How cool is that?
