There are so many it is hard to chose so I will go with the best invention that not many people, even some Tesla fans, are aware of.

Many biographies that list Nikola Tesla's contributions have digital computers on the list but don't go into detail how exactly Tesla contributed to the field of digital computers. The reason is Tesla invented the AND logic gate in 1898 and got the patent for it in 1903. This came as a shock to many engineers who tried to patent the same concept decades later believing they were the first to invent the logic gate.
