EtherChat allows users to send messages via a smart contract that gets encrypted in a way that only the sender and recipient can decode the messages. The good thing about EtherChat is that messages can be sent on an ethereum testnet such as Rinkeby so it costs almost nothing to use or experiment with. However, unlike centralized messaging apps a message sent through EtherChat has a delay time since it is treated like an ethereum transaction to be mined.

Until a commercial quantum cryptography network exists I think this is probably the best way to send point-to-point messages securely without the fear of eavesdropping.
