Why Holograms?

If anybody is wondering why I like holograms this clip pretty much begins the story:

I remember watching this very segment as a child and thanks to YouTube I can relive it all over again. Mr. Wizard's World on the Nickelodeon channel. That's what started it. It's pointless trying to explain how incredibly wondrous this was to me because either you get it or you don't.
