I am going to start reviewing Isaac Arthur videos again but this video by Kyle Hill was posted yesterday on YouTube and it's important.

I don't fear a nuclear war or a virus ending modern civilization. A huge interplanetary coronal mass ejection directed at Earth is what would end society as we know it.

Maybe CMEs are the most likely "late filter" solution to the Fermi paradox. That wouldn't surprise me. I tend to believe though that there is an early filter which stops most life in the Universe from becoming multi-celled.
