The Power of Superconductivity
It seems like with superconductors Earth's energy crisis would mostly be solved. Better energy storage, more efficient energy transmission and more powerful microchips. Assuming room-temperature superconducting wire isn't brittle, isn't toxic or require some exotic isotope to create it superconductors operating at room temperature should lead to another industrial revolution.
The video points out for superconductors to be practical in everyday life a metamaterial that shields against stray magnetic fields also needs to be discovered. I know magnets operate on the Meissner effect and some MRI machines use superconductors cooled with liquid nitrogen so I thought there was some kind of workaround. Maybe I am missing something there.
