The Science of Superpowers
This Isaac Arthur video discusses how future technologies might allow for some abilities that could be compared to comic book character superpowers. Abilities like flight and telekinesis. Possibly also "mind reading" and virtual omniscience. Exoskeleton powersuits can give an average person above-average strength. Basically these are the dreams of some transhumanists. Of course if technology like mind augmentation and room-temperature superconductivity becomes mainstream then anyone can get the "power" to be superhuman. The video points out that those astounding abilities would then become considered mundane.
Isaac Arthur didn't quote The Incredibles so I will. I did an internet search to make sure I got the quote exact because I respect the Syndrome (voiced by Jason Lee) character.
Oh, I'm real all right. Real enough to defeat you! And I did it without your precious gifts. Your oh-so-special powers. I'll give them heroics. I'll give them the most spectacular heroics the world has ever seen! And when I'm old and I've had my fun, I'll sell my inventions so that everyone can have powers. Everyone can be Super! And when everyone's Super... no one will be.
The superpower I would want is time travel. My second choice would be teleportation. I know there's a "Why You Don't Want Teleportation" Kyle Hill video on YouTube but I still want that power.
