An End to Technological Progress?

Can technological progress slow down, stop or go backward? This Isaac Arthur video examines that question.

There is an apocryphal quote about, "Everything that can be invented has been invented.", being attributed to a U.S. patent office commissioner. There are also people who believe that true artificial intelligence will be mankind's last invention. Maybe a Star Trek-like holodeck gets invented and humans will get lazy or in a post-scarcity societythere would be less incentive to create and innovate.

Personally I don't think there is a practical "end" for technological progress. There might be "walls" that can't be overcome like the velocity of light but that would also cause a need to find more efficient ways to work around the limits.
