Isaac Arthur didn't mention it but K9 from the Doctor Who franchise would have been a great example to have used for a robot pet.

Maybe police dogs could be replaced by technology but I would be surprised to live long enough to witness guide dogs for the blind being replaced with robots. Maybe I am wrong but I think there will be a lot of pushback no matter how sophisticated the technology got.

Genetic modification and possible cybernetic enhancement I more anticipate becoming an everyday thing. I'd see most applications as positive so I think there will be minimal animal rights arguments against it.
